69 Eliminators used the same gas door as every other 69-70 Cougar. It has the Mercury emblem. The only 69-70 Cougar to use a different emblem is the 70 Eliminator which had the running cat emblem on it.
Good job! I knew someone was looking for it, but I couldn't get the search function here to do what I needed it to do :-/
Hope it can be reunited with the previous owner!
For posterity, the VIN: 9F91H588044
H-code definitely rules out the possibility of it being an Eliminator.

It didn't move to far from when Duffy's sold it anyway...... I hate to say it, but I'd have to repaint it! lol That thing gives me flashbacks of orange and brown shag carpet and all kinds of colors that should never be mixed! ;>P
I see the auction just ended with no bids. Something is a bit sketchy with this seller. One of his three feedbacks is for the sale of this car a few weeks ago. Also, it shows the car being sold twice before.
Someone mentioned Duffy's had the car at one time. I remember them selling a Cougar one time. Someone had bondoed over the fender mounting bolts and it was cracked and splitting. When looking at the pics of this one I don't see any fender bolts?
That being said, I would still love to have it!
See if you can PM the guy and maybe schedule a look-see. While your in Des Moines I'd use that as an excuse to visit El Bait Shop.......would make for a nice Sunday drive. I may get back out that way in July for the Good Guy's show if you want some eyes on it.
I’m a new cougar owner and new to the forum- this is my first classic ford/mercury project
I just picked up a 69 cougar with strong running 302 motor and four barrel carb.
I am planning to do a 2015 or newer boss 302 swap with supercharger. I also wanted to do a more aggressive...
Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a definative answer for the 1969 xr7 6g interior code color. I've had several conflicting answers. CCOA decodes it as light ivy. Marty... dark Ivey. WCC says dark ivey. I've seen early charts from merc. That say light ivey. Does anyone actually have an accurate...
Hey folks, Does anyone here happen to do any writing? Let me know if you do. I might have a very casual writing gig or should I say, the opportunity is there, to write a column in the Friday paper in the "Wheels" section. Although i don't know all the details, most of it will be restored...
So with some health issues behind me and winter upon us I figured I'd get some work done on Panther. here is her new mill and trans. I will finish the engine this winter and start prepping the car for the transplant. She is evolving from a fast street car to a Hellcat killer.
I have a 69 Cougar Eliminator 351W with FMX transmission, power steering. What brand & Model # of headers will bolt up with no modification. I was provided Hooker Headers & they are hitting the floor pan on both sides, too high to clear transmission support, & on driver side hitting frame area...
