I have two places in the body that I have to cut out some rust and a couple of usual places in the motor compartment. In the motor compartment the surface where the fenders mount to.

I need to find out what gauge steel that I need to go and buy to replace the rust??

Thanks in advance.

20 to 22 gauge will do it. I believe 20 gauge was factory, but 22 is easier to work with.

All the stuff I ever measured was .030" (22 gauge). As Mike suggests, either will do the job as they are close in thickness.

I think the fender aprons may be 20, it feels thicker to me than the body panels do. I have been known to be wrong though. I think I used 22 gauge for filling all the holes in my engine bay.
