Hello,
1st post and just purchased my 1st cougar,a 1968 j-code (to be resto'd).
My 1st question is what needs to be done to convert the ORIGINAL gas tank from carb to efi,
can this be sourced out, is anything readily available in the aftermarket ?
any help appriciated.

i believe you need a return line---you should be able to weld/silver solder a line barb to the sending unit---i'd probably start with a new tank and unit

doctordesto is correct if using an engine with a return style system. Most newer vehicles (within the last 10-15 years) started going returnless. If using a return style system, an easier approach would be using the drain plug has your return port. One thing other thing to consider is your driving style. If you plan to be aggressive sometimes (or all the time like I am), watch your fuel level with a stock tank. The fuel sloshing will uncover the fuel pump pick up and cause sputtering on a fuel injected vehicle. That issue will get real annoying real fast. It may even happen as low as 1/2 tank.
