I know it is not recommended to run an electric fuel pump on the street. But, my motor does not have provisions for a mechanical pump without changing the timing cover. I'd like to rewire my existing pump with a relay but don't know what to wire to the corresponding numbers on the relay. I'm sure someone out there has done this before. I don't necessarily need a diagram, just the pin numbers and where they go would be a big help.

Thanks in advance.

The typical aftermarket relay has 5 pins, as follows.
30 Power in
85 Signal lead
86 Ground
87 Power out 2
87a Power out 1
Connect 86 to ground, 85 to accy power, 30 to the battery via a ckt bkr, and 87 to the power lead of the fuel pump. Leave 87a disconnected in this circuit. When you turn the key on, you will activate the relay and 12V power from the battery go to the fuel pump.

Thanks Bruce. I wired it up over the weekend but am not able to test it yet. I'll double check my wires against your list. It won't be a big deal to swich a few around if needed. Slowly I'm getting a better handle on this electrical stuff.
