Front end alignment specs.

Does anyone have the caster, camber, toe specs., and anything else (I think that's it, but I'm not sure) that would need to be adjusted for a front end alignment on a '67 DGS cougar?

I ask for these because I took my car to a shop today to have the front end aligned and they claimed everything is within specification, but it's not right at all. The tires chirp going over bumps in the road and the tires sit like \ /. Not the right camber, I'm thinkin'. Anyway, there's other things wrong too and I just want to take some specs. there and see if they match up to what they used.

I know I can always count on you fellow cougar lovers for some help. Thanks!

ooo ooo ooo I definitely need that too. I took my 67 standard into Midas and Firestone and both times they say it is aligned. But like 67 above my front tires chirp on bumps and sometimes going straight down a flat road. Also I am getting serious wear on the outside edges of the tires because they sit like \ / .
Hi, I found these specs for a '68. They should be the same.
Caster angle (degree): limits -3/4 to + 1 1/4 desired: +1/4
Camber angle (degree): limits +1/4 to + 1 3/4
desired: +1
Toe in (inches) 3/16
These specs were from MOTOR Auto repair manual
My ford manual states that you must have the engine running to keep the steering wheel properly centered if you have power steering.
Would the specs be the same for a '67 mustang as it would be for a '67 cougar? Cuz I have a Hayne's Mustang Repair manual that lists the specs for a '67 mustang, but I'm unsure if the suspension on the two (mustang & cougar) are identical.
67cougar,
I found the specs for 1967. They are the same as I stated for '68. The manual I have states that the specs are the same for the mustang and cougar.
I asked because my Hayne's Mustang Repair Manual lists different specs then what has been stated. My book reads:
Caster = -1/4 degree to +3/4 degree desired +1/4 degree
Camber= +1/2 degree to +1 1/2 degree desired +1 degree
Toe in = .125 to .250

The ranges are different then what greenmachine has stated and again, that's why I was asking. The desired spec seems to be the same, though.
Here is a chart I found on the internet.

don't the original alignment specs need to be adjusted for the newer radial tires? I don't know, I have heard that somewhere before, and am just asking.
I've never heard that bit about keeping the engine running on a PS car...anyone else that can confirm or deny???
These specs are out of the Nov.2000 issue of Mustangs and Fords magazine.

Street; Left wheel= Caster 2 degrees positive.
Camber 1/2 degreee negative ( thats .5)
1/32 in. toe-out
Right wheel= Caster 2.5 degrees positive
Camber .5 degree negative
1/32 in. toe-out
Road Racing; Left wheel= Caster Zero
Camber 1 to 1.25 degrees negative
Toe zero
Right wheel=Caster zero
Camber 1.25 degrees negative
Toe zero

Hope this is helpfull.

The engine must be running or there will be about 1/2" play at the control valve socket where the pitman arm attaches.

Speaking of alignments where do you find a shop that has the old type of machine everything I run into has a computer and the computer doesn't go back to 67 nor will it allow you to do a custom alignment by
Any tech with half a brain can set the alignment machine up with custom specs. They either don't know how or don't want to. Keep trying different shops.
I've had so many crooked shops trying to sell me parts that I just replaced that I started doing my own alignment by the string method. I haven't done it on the cougar yet though. Those eccentric washers are a little tricky, a shop once messed mine up by trying to loosen the bolt and not the nut. Check out youtube on the string method.
