Re: The Finagler A/FC Jeff Foulk

Ok, that car is rockin' for a 3.8L. Care to tell how much boost you're running? :)
Times updated. Kept your old ones for historical reasons...
Running 12-13 psi, non-intercooled - I am currently working on a water to air intercooled manifold which will allow me to run 21 psi. That should take me to ~500 rwhp and run the low 11's; we will see. Afer all of that, I have a SVO 4.5 V6 which I will install with a bigger SC and run closer to 30 psi and make ~800 rwhp. That project will be alot of work.

Pics of engine and car at track would be fun to look at when you get the chance!

Made it to a 1/8 mile track last night, but car was not running right, so it only went 9.3 @ 70 mph. I guess thats ok for an engine that wouldn't run over 5,000 rpm in 2nd gear. I will try next weekend for a clean pass, and get the time slip posted. No need to make this one official.

Ok, here it is. If you have a Cougar and have been down the track post to the forum and I will add you in. 1/4 time takes precedence over 1/8 mi time in list.
1. You must be an active member of MercuryCougar.net with a minimum of 50 posts.

2. Car must have run the time within the last few years (my discretion)

Is 1983 recent enough? My best 1/4 mile time ever was 15.21 in a 0F91H. It had a Holley Street Dominator intake and Holley carb. Also a Competition (brand) cam, 3:00 rear end, FMX. I got a lot of high 15's and low 16's. But 15.21 was my best ever. I think I still have a stack of timeslips from 1980-1984

Went to the local 1/8 track today, and faired a little bit better than last time out. I will use this as a baseline before the fine tuning begins. Need to figure out the A/F ratio, its still not running well above 6,000 rpm.

68 Cougar 331 C4, 3.80 gear. No idea of curb weight, full interior and AC.

I've finely got to go to heartland park in Topeka KS. I drove 91 miles there ran a 11.86 117 mph and drove home. I've put about 5000 miles on it in three years My goal is to run a 11.49 then you need a roll cage, and that aint happening.

Heh heh...or find an outlaw track. I was able to run mine at several tracks w/o the bar but kicked off the big tracks with big liability. The mom-and-pop 1/8 mi tracks turned their heads. I won't take mine out without better brakes and a cage now -- too fast for my old ass

Tim,

Just wondering, how do you walk? Your balls are obviously as big as church bells... :buck:

It's been a while. Tim, you have that Cleveland flying. A little update, our Cougar has been a 9.52 @ 139 with a 1.27 60'. That's at 3285 lbs with a 427 windsor and c4 on the footbrake.

I made it to an event at one the local 1/8 mile tracks, and ended up winning the street car class. My fastest pass was 8.713 @ 81.58, with a 2.058 60 foot time. Launching at a lower rpm was the key to my better 60 times, no wheel hop that way.
