Alright, i have a 68 cougar xr-7. I just rebuilt the engine and now its time to paint. My question is, do I use dark ford blue or just ford blue. I have been told by numerous people, but they all say different things. PLEASE HELP!!:1zhelp:
This brand and part number is the closest to what the factory used and available in a spray bomb. There are other close matches but they require a spray gun -- PPG/Ditzler 13358 or PPG DAR 13898.
BTW I looked at every dang shade of so called "Ford Blue" out there!!!!!!!!! None of 'em are exactly the same. But it should be a "Dark Corporate Blue" which ever you choose.
Tim, it was never the same shade right from the factory either. I have had NOS snorkles and air cleaner bases that were several shades off from each other. I'm told that when things got low, Ford just threw some exterior "close enough color" paint into the pot to stretch it that much further. Back in those days nobody cared!
Any professional auto paint store should be able to mix it for you. Look in the Yellow Pages. Don't forget the hardener. You'll need an aerosol spray or gun.
