Below you will find links to the older "Eliminator Market" threads so that folks can find sales history easier ~ especially for cars that have been listed off and on. Also, just because a car is not in the current Market thread does not mean that it is no longer available. I've also been saving almost all of the sale history, pics, etc for the cars listed, "just in case".

I'd love to see the Marti on this car. Besides the interior color, the rocker moldings and XR-7 dash switches shout "clone;" but then there's no "Cougar" script on the quarters, so who knows? Full documentation would be extremely important on this one, I think.

"Ginger" is a documented Eliminator, crazy as it may sound, and a 4-speed car to boot! Here is a pic of the Marti for ya :)

Howdy Mike. I'm chasing a rumor right now & I'll let you know how it pans out. The new sales boss walked into work today & straight to my desk. He told me of a 70 E-cat that's for sale on Milwaukee craigslist. He's seen both of mine & knows. I haven't been able to ferret out to much yet but I'm workin on it!

Cool, post info when you have some.

Milwaukee might have been the metallic blue '69 351/4-speed car that sold last month. It was listed a few times on South Milwaukee CL and other places for $22k~24k. A recent listing by the owner mentioned that it was orginally comp yellow. Shortly after that it was updated as sold.

Huh. I've seen plenty of non-Eliminators with the rocker moldings deleted, '70 Eliminator style. I haven't seen an Eliminator with the rocker moldings retrofitted before.

I'd love to know what the person who ordered the car with a 3.00:1 rear and close-ratio transmission was thinking.

3:00 open is standard for an A/C car, so maybe he just wasn't paying attention? More concerned with "can I get a brown interior"? Who knows :)

Mike, the 3.00 gear is not what throws me so much as it is the 2.32 1st gear close ratio box!! Torque multiplication numbers are terrible and with the BIG port Cleveland 4V that car must have been an absolutely miserable PIG out of the hole!! A set of 3.50's or 3.91's would wake that car right up....Even with the Ginger Interior!!

BTW, I've exchanged some emails with the owner of the project car in Montana. Updated the info in my original post above. He has had the car since 1981, and bought it in AZ (minus the drivetrain) where it sat for 5 years after a front end fender bender. Comp orange with black interior, M-code car.

Regarding the camera case material- dont do it. Tom at KTL and I tried it and it didnt match, even though it looks like it does. Also, it is very difficult to get around the recessed instrurmnt openings. Money wasted and an excercise in frustration.

More info on this one; turns out it was originally a 4-speed (wide ratio) car.

'70 w/ 351, 4-speed. Comp orange, black comfort-weave interior. Original drivetrain gone, currently a 472 and C6. Owner may seperate car from engine, and has many of the original Eliminator items (missing drivetrain, rear swaybar, front spoiler, replacement hood and grille). No documentation. $15k in Montana with current drivetrain.

Another new one today.

'69 w/ 428 (R-code), 4-speed (currently a 5-speed). White with black interior. Sunroof. Very modified. No mention of documentation. In NY, by Legendary Motorcar Company for $54.9k
http://www.autotraderclassics.com/classic-car/1969-Mercury-Cougar-677839.xhtml
http://www.legendarymotorcar.com/site/390_1969_cougar_eliminator_cj428

The car is located at LMC just outside of Toronto, Ontario. LMC have the Marti Report saying it is a Eliminator, 428CJ, 4spd car....... The car was featured in Muscle Car Review in July/August 2003 with a modified 428CJ & 5speed.
Edit: added direct link to LMC, as well as comment from Chuckty101.

Sorry team, I dont get much time to browse or post on your forum so i do apologise if this has been discussed before but just heard of this one which could be of interest. I dont personally know the seller. (I have an email and phone number if you're interested, pm or email me).

The original email says:

"1968 Mercury Cougar real "Eliminator" super cobraJet... unrestored but complete no rust issues...this is a RARE car! asking 24000.00 obo"

(It is one of a number of cars they have for sale).

It had a few shots of a 1970 "maybe" eliminator so i thought it was interesting and asked for more pics, questioned the super cobra jet thing and a vin, and got a response below:

"The vin number is in one of the pictures attached to this email hard to see? but I think it reads VIN# 0F91Q51873 yes it is a real factory Eliminator 428 CobraJet"

I thought some things like the dash look questionable but i'm no expert, maybe someone should check it out. I have more pics i can forward too.

Hey Hillbilly428, I sent you a PM for more pics / info.

While I didn't see a pic of the dash, I can say that the frame rail looks pretty messed up. Looks like they were using the frame rail drain holes as tie-downs for shipping and tore through it pretty good. So sad :-/

Anyhow, send me some more info when you get a chance, please.

Chuck, thanks for the info on the LMC car. I'll edit my post to reflect your information.

Paul (Hillbilly428) and I exchanged some email about this car. Here is what we came up with;

Wheel wells should not have the chrome trim (but those could have been added).
Incorrect rear tail lights and gas cap flapper (but those could have been changed at some time).
Dash gauges are not correct (I believe) - again, these could have been changed at some time.
The camera case on the passenger side doesn't look quite right to me either.
Appears to have been a metallic blue at one time. Maybe original color, or a previous repaint.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p>Bad things: torn up frame rail(s) from shipping tie-downs connected to the frame rail drain holes.
Passenger side inner fender apron damage, and radiator support is cut around the battery area. Maybe it was in a front end collision at some time?
No Super Cobra Jet oil cooler equipment visible.
Questionable Ram-Air hood.
One of the underside pics shows the frame rails / torque boxes were cut out and replaced and maybe some sort of subframe connector was installed.
<o:p></o:p>
</o:p>
Good things: Q-code and staggered rear shocks, so most likely a real 428cj / 4speed car unless someone went to the trouble to add the staggered shock mounts. But given all the other welding on the underside, it is not improbable.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
So I’m guessing a Marti Report would turn up a Q-code, 4-speed standard Cougar that was metallic blue, maybe a Ram-Air car, maybe not. In itself, that makes it a fairly rare and valuable car. But $24K? Hrm… seems steep to me.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
But it should at least be reported and entered into the 428CJ Cougar Registry.

<o:p>I'd really love to see a Marti on this one, and I've emailed the seller to see if he has one or a build sheet. To me, the VIN looks like: 0F91Q518834, or maybe 0F91Q518734</o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p>If anyone wants a copy of the pics shoot me (or Paul) a PM and I'll forward them to ya.</o:p>
