Happy Groundhog Day! Sun was shinning today so I tooled around with the top down at lunchtime. I refused to even look for my shadow, so Summer IS coming...

Here is an updated list of '69 and '70 Cougar Eliminators that I've found listed for sale on various sites. Most are combed from popular sites (CraigsList, eBay, Hemmings, CarsOnLine).
Of course if you know of an Eliminator for sale please feel free to add it to the list. Or if you have any info / details or other general comments about an Eliminator listed here (or elsewhere) please feel free to pass along that info.

I've also linked this thread on CCC.net, here: http://www.classiccougarcommunity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=718

If that first one is truly a super drag pak option E cat it is like one of 11 made and one of only about 6 reported and documented.

Yeah, I think he has the Marti for it pictured in the link. It was discussed a little bit in the January market thread too. Crazy money though, and well out of my price range!

Just so the numbers are accurate, according to Kevin Marti, there were 58 Boss 302 Eliminators produced with the Super Drag Pak option. 10 were equipped with the wide ratio 4 speed, 48 were equipped with the close ratio 4 speed. This is one of the 48 with the close ratio. There are presently 19 total in the registry.

Links to past "Eliminators on the Market" threads

Below you will find links to the older "Eliminator Market" threads so that folks can find sales history easier ~ especially for cars that have been listed off and on. Also, just because a car is not in the current Market thread does not mean that it is no longer available.
I've also been saving almost all of the sale history, pics, etc for the cars listed. Not sure if this sort of thing gets saved by Dave (Eliminator Registrar) and added to the Eliminator Registry database or not.

'69 Eliminator Drag Car still available / on the market again. Appears to be the same pics as last time (almost a year ago, IIRC), so probably the same owner.

'69 w/ 428 (R-code / Ram-air), auto. Currently in vintage paint scheme (unsure of original color), and appears to have a red interior (partial, with cage). No docs mentioned, located in Mississippi.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330683132207+&viewitem=

I believe this was discussed in a past thread. I tried to figure out what color it might have been ~ looks like maybe orange in the door jam pic, but the trunk lip and door data tag pic show black. Looks like alot of welding was done on this one, and I believe the concensus last time it was listed is that it would take alot of work to restore. But I bet it would make a fun driver :)

That blurred shot of the data tag sure makes it look like the paint code is a "T", which in 69 would have been Red. Also the interior code doesnt appear to be 5A, 5B, or EA (sorry if this was addressed last year)

Edit: It appears to me that of the available codes, the interior trim code most resembles 1D, which would be dark red corinthian, or 1G, which is light ivy gold. An email to the seller could probably clear that up.

Yeah, we could ask the seller. I think last time he listed it he had the Marti report. For some reason I didn't save the files though. Perhaps it is an R-code, but not an actual Eliminator? I don't recall...

Hrm...I agree with your decoding. So if it was originally a Red car, that would almost rule it out as an Eliminator, right? Unless it was a special order.
If it was a special order, would it still have the "T" code for red, or would it have the longer 5-digit special order paint code?

my understanding is that there would not be a "T" if it was an actual eliminator, but that the paint code space would be blank. It would also have a 6-digit DSO number. But I'm FAR from an expert on the matter.....lol

I was lookin through those older pics and they have a shot of a partial VIN on the back of the block... and it doesn't match the VIN for the car.
Very surprised at the previous $65k pricetag too!

*EDIT* this pic appears to be the HEAD, not the block.

Where does one find a VIN on a ford engine?

I have emailed him asking if he had the original 3 speed with the car and if the rest of the driveline was original to the car and here is his reply.

Yes I have 3 speed transmission also and everything is original on this car. Thank you Calean

Cheers Rodney

VIN on a 351C car (and most of the others, IIRC) is usually at the back of the block on a pad near the driver's side head.
Old pic of that blue Eliminator block VIN is here: http://www.investmentmotorcars.net/inventory/detail/70cougar/ce18.jpg

*EDIT*: I think I am mistaken on this pic. I think this is a pic of the HEAD, not the block. Did they stamp the head's with VIN's too?

Oh yeah, I think the VIN is also located on the engine tag which is mounted with the ignition coil. But the tags can be easily seperated from the engine, or replaced with a reproduction.

Project Eliminator?

'70 Eliminator project. Little info, no mention of documentation. SF Bay Area, accepting offers.
<!-- m -->http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/2847256359.html<!-- m -->

From the ad: "I am selling my 1970 mercury cougar eliminator project car. I have removed about 90% of the rust and primered the car black. I got the entire car(except engine and transmission.) the car comes as is with all the parts i have took off. I have almost all the original parts that came on the car stored i.e: both doors, front fenders, hood, grill, interior, all glass is there except windshield. It is also on jack stands in the front so will need a craddle and flat bed to move.

I do not have the title for the car. If you have any questions reply to this email with your phone number and I will get in contact. I open to offers on the car."
