Into the preliminary stages of the project.

i removed the vac.motor from the 70 xr7. it was in working condition and held a good vacuum. when I cut it open i found copious amounts of rust and rust dust. from the outside it looks good but inside is a mess. i hope the cougars arnt breathing this rust dust thru the intake vac.
Another good reason to convert to electric.

I am going to fabricate a distance piece to extend the original housing a bit so the motor will fit inside.

I used a cutting wheel with the air compressor.
it wont have have to be sealed because the bellows are being replaced by the electric motor.
i will probably use a band of metal to join the halves and weld and or pop rivits and fasteners
i want to be able to take it apart again.

Yeah, i thought about that Mark. After I cut it open. Doh.. Dang..
but i have one on the parts car too.
maybe i'll use the top half from the parts car and the bottom from this one to make it deep enough.
still early
