I am curious as to whether every Cougar produced 67-68 included a vinyl top. I don't care for the look but don't want to lose the originalty of a 68 XR7 I just bought to restore. Thanks for your help.

You could get a 67-68 cougar without a vinyl top . The vinyl top was an option. Like all other options, it cost extra. The vinyl top would be listed on the invoice or a Marti report.
