I am looking for the drivers side shock plate that goes under the leaf springs for a big block 428 CJ car for the staggered shock set up for a 69 Cougar.

Pretty sure that they are the same as the passenger side.

Bump on this thread...I have reviewed a lot of historical posts on this subject.....one from CJ750 and hawkrod back in 2007.....is there a consensus that a Mercury from 1972 with staggered shocks would have the same plates that fit my 69?

What about CougarCJ's suggestion about the PS being the same as the DS on a staggered shock application? Have you found this to be incorrect? Just wondering.

In other words, is one bracket just installed 180%?

Yes, that is how staggered shocks are configured, one (lower) mount is on the back of the axle (DS) and the other in the front (PS, "normal" installation). Using a PS lower shock plate on the DS accomplishes this and that is what Scott is suggesting.

I am not the expert here, but don't believe you can just switch them around....here is an EBAY link to a set of staggered for Boss 302 etc..

Here is a link to a normal set

I dont think getting two of the same side will solve the problem....each side for the staggered is different.....

I see what you are saying, at least from the part number stamping, but they sure look the same as each other otherwise! So yeah, guess from a concours perspective it wouldn't fly, but physically I don't see why the idea wouldn't work.

Don't forget the Mustang is not going to work on Cougar. The bolt pattern is different (larger) than the Mustang due to the isolator pad and related.
