I just put on my new drivers side mirror, and there seems to be something missing. I've got the outside ring that attaches to the door pannel but I'm missing something for the inside. Should there be a clip that holds this in place or a nut, or both?
Thanks Paul W. 67 std

Special Washer

You are missing the stamped steel washer that secures the cable remote assembly to the door panel. It has a flat spot on the inner hole and a lock tab on its outer circumference to keep it from rotating as the bezel nut is tightened.

The washer often falls inside the door when you remove the mirror. Remove your door panel and I bet you find it.

Thanks, It's not in the door. (bummer) Only had one cougar in the junk yard here and it's gone now. (bummer) If you can help me locate one that would be great.

Since you are in So Cal there are plenty of 67 - 70 Cougars and any other FOMOCO product in the junk yards that have remote mirrors and will have the right washer.
