Does anyone know the availability of the weatherstripping on the top of the door panels that wipes the glass?
I just got done reconstructing some door panels, with new board and vinyl, they came out pretty good, but all I am lacking is the weather strip.

on another note I was just reading the post on the wonderful world of previous owners and their dumb modifications.....I think I got one of the better ones.
The ENTIRE car is wired with TELEPHONE cord, thats right the curly stuff!!!!!!! amazingly everything but the dash electrics work, over the last several months I have been slowly rewiring it, a couple wires a weekend. I have almost got the wiring done, thank god!!!

anyway, any input on the weatherstripping appreciated, the guys at the local auto parts stores are dorks, at one store he actually had to ask me what weatherstripping was. and at the other, he just said that they did not carry any weatherstripping, needless to say I will not be shopping at either of those stores again!! thanx again

Hey Justin, like sixt9 siad, but the mustang weatherstip will fit the doors only and not the 1/4 windows. You need to get the "beltline" weatherstrip specifically made for the cougar which most suppliers on the "links" section should stock. oh...just noticed, what year is your cougar?? My comments are for a 67-68...not sure about other years!

Phone cord!?

Now you know what that dial tone sound you kept hearing was!!

I'll be getting some weatherstriping for mine too in the near future. I think the beltline set you can get from some of the classic suppliers will have what you need.

Thanx, but doh!

sorry all I forgot the year, it is a 70 standard, thanx for the input thus far though!! as long as it is available..then kool. I know my escort has the same exact stripping exept it is black and not polished chrome looking on top.
As far as the phone cord....jeesh!...now that that nightmare is almost over with I find it kind of funny myself, every wire except like a few under the hood were phone cord. The funny thing is they had it all wrapped up so nice I didnt have a clue untill I cut the insulating wrap off, had I known I may have thought twice about purchasing the car, but its all good now. so everyone do youselves favors and make sure THE CAR IS NOT WIRED WITH PHONE CORD BEFORE PURCHASE!!! if anyone is looking at buying another cougar

:D
thanx again for the input,
Justin

Maybe he was just real cheap and also worked for the phone company......Anyway that's just too funny.... Did you have to drop .35 cents to start it and another .35 every 3 minutes to keep it running:1poke:

Sorry.....

you guess is as good as mine!

I have no idea why they chose telephone cord, probably all the could come up with. actually it is kinda 3 small wires in one, they wired stuff with the smaller wires inside, guess they thought it was kind of handy, 3 wires wrapped up in one bundle...who knows!
I just know it was a kid, their soldering techniques were far less than perfect, and the speaker wires that went to the back non existant speakers were about as big around as power line wires.
the explicit stickers on the bumpers were also indicative of no maturity.

Guess they were making their version of a SPRINT CAR!!:D :p:
