i have a 68 cougar with a vinal top that is rusted completly trough i was wondering what i sould do i dont know how to cut the top off and replace it and i dont know if body shops would do it
That's a tough one. If the roof is salvagable you may get away with doing POUR 15 ( or something like it) or replace the roof (the expensive alternative) where a good restoration/body shop should be able to give you an estimate.
I have seen people get good results patching the rust holes with fibreglas cloth. You must stop the rust using POR otherwise it pops up again in a year or two.
I once replaced 1/10 of the roof on my 63 Galaxie with a section cut off a donor car. (20 years later the car is still alive and well with its current owner) If I as an amateur can do that a competent bodyshop surely can do a larger section.
