Interested in selling my 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7. There is a story behind this car and will spare everyone the details unless someone is interested. I drove it into my garage two years ago from the body shop and it has sat there ever since. It is still covered with dust but I will pull out and wash if someone is interested. Car is located in Phillipsburg NJ.
It is definitely more of a restomod than a correct restoration vehicle. It originally came with a 289 and three speed but now has a modified 351 Cleveland and AOD transmission from mustang gt. Have over $8000 invested and looking to get $5,000. Here are the details.
ENGINE - Rebuilt in the 90's with less than 500 miles since rebuild
Block is a 1971 Cleveland (not sure if two bolt or four bolt mains)
10:1 compression flat top pistons with .030 over bore
Camshaft is Erson grind around 292 duration and .500 lift
Rhoades hydraulic variable duration lifters
Rare 4v heads that were completely rebuilt with intake manifold gasket porting
Edelbrock Performer intake with 750 Holley Carb
Hooker headers with heat wrap
MSD electronic ignition with billet distributor and 6A box
TRANSMISSION - Brand New AOD from 1993 Mustang GT
Trans Go Shift Kit
Brand new 2300-2500 HD Stall converter from Monster Transmissions
B&M Transmission Cooler
B&M Slap Shifter
BRAKES - Four wheel powered disk brakes
Wilwood adjustable distribution block and all new brake lines
REAR - Chevy 12 bolt from truck (used for the disk brake conversion)
Believe it has 3.73 gears
BODY - Body is in good condition
Brand new front and rear valance.
Quarters and trunk are solid
Installed hood scoop
Body was painted in 2009 and has been parked ever since
Needs to be reassembled from paint
INTERIOR - Seat are in great condition (no rips)
New package tray in back
Some new guages on dash
Dash is in good condition
Headliner needs to be replace
Door panels need to be reinstalled
WHEELS - Torque Thrust wheels (need to be polished from sitting)
Four new tires
Floor boards are solid but were crudely repaired with some sort of sheet metal.
Frame is in great shape - has aftermarket frame rail connectors installed
New taillights and electronic signal converter box
I have all trim and peices needed to finish reassembing the car.
Car has very few miles and spent all time in my garage.
I bought it with a Bill of Sale but have 90% completed process for NJ Title back in '09. Lost interest in car and never followed through.
