From Mark Piechowski on the Classic Cougars Yahoo listserv said:
Hey all,
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>

Last year, I developed a survey about the Cougar Nationals shortly after the Cougar Nationals show in New Jersey. In my original post I had emphasized the reasoning for the survey was that the attendance was lower than my expectations and NOT due to any aspect of how the hosting of the show was handled. The show was great and I had a fantastic time.
<o:p></o:p>

The last Eastern National show was 5 years prior to the CCNJPA show in 2011. I felt that such a long time had elasped, people would have gone through withdrawls and needed a new fix. I know I did. Having just over 70 Cougars at the 2011 Nationals seemed insufficient when in 2007 there were more than 160 Cougars at the Carlisle All Ford show. <o:p></o:p>

Hopefully the survey may help determine some means of boosting attendance for a future show and reveal why some didn't attend. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>

The subjects in the survey had talked about frequency, timing, setting, external activities, distance, hold-backs and show vehicles.<o:p></o:p>

I don't think there is anything about that survey that's surprising - I could have guessed 90% of the responses. It's harder to get to national shows that don't rotate locations due to cost and time involved....but I do like the really big ones and once in a blue moon I may make plans to attend. I think the majority of us like to make the most of our free time and prefer to stick relatively close to home. The setting helps out a bit - July is a scorcher and some of those open parking lots are not very fun to hang out in for any lenght of time.....treed/shaded areas are a first choice
