After watching a special on convertibles on TV, I would like some info on my 1969 COUGAR convertible. Does anyone know basic data, such as how many produced. I have a 1969 cougar convertible, 351W, with air and power. Thanks Garry Lowery
According to Keven Marti's book "Cougar...by the Numbers" 5,796 Standard Convertibles were built for 1969. A total of 9,820 convertables for 1969(XR7 and Standards)He brakes down the engine combos to what transmition was ordered. Standard Convertible with 351 2V automatic 4,218 were made, same but XR7 2007 were made. 351 4V standard automatic 885 were made and XR7 had 1076 made.
Air conditioning is not brokin down by power train but by body style. So standard convertibles got 1,380 A/C and XR7 Converts 1701 got A/C.
By power do you meen power steering, Power Brakes, windows? I think all the tops were power. You can order a report from Marti auto works that will detail the way your car was built and give you some brake downs on how many were made the way yours was. WWW.martiauto.com or call at 623-953-2558
