Guys,

I will have to replace my alternator harness on my 427 GT-E XR7. WCCC lists a big block, not XR7 harness, and has a small block XR7 harness. Is either of these correct?

There a few XR7 GT-E restorers here - what did you use?

I used a flawless original on my green XR-7 GT-E.

For a reproduction you are stuck with this one that works perfectly, and looks OK. Always remember when it comes to wiring harnesses for alternators, Mustang with ammeter = Cougar with ammeter. For some reason the knucklehead who sells the wiring harnesses to Mustang owners believes that it is too difficult for Mustang owners to see an ammeter. So the harnesses are marked "Big block without tachometer" because a big block Mustang with an ammeter has no tachometer.......which has absolutely nothing to do with the alternator harness.

The "knucklehead" was employed by Ford. The original 1967 L/M parts catalog specified the application using the note "with tachometer" or "without tachometer" - and it was reversed! This error continued into the 1975 L/M parts catalog too. I think the Mustang info was copied into the L/M parts catalog.

I had this part reproduced from an original XR-7 GT-E alternator harness and the factory drawing.
It is available from:
