Guys,
I read something the other day that said that the 67 xr-7 tach gauge has a "red" needle". Is this true? Is there a difference between the 67 or 68 on the dash gauges? Thanks

Steve,
All the instrument needles on 67 - 68 XR-7 are white. All the instruments are the same from 67 - 68 except the speedometer. The 67 XR-7 speedo has a longer reset button on the trip odometer. Because they were breaking off too easily and causing warranty claims the reset button was shortened for 1968.

Just a guess, maybe a Mustang restorer swapped the guage face and kept the Cougar tach which is identical to the Mustang version except for the face. Or maybe it's a factory mistake which is why it is still sitting around unused.

I just went and looked at my 67 XR-7 showroom brochure dated 12-66 and it shows a white tach needle in two photos. Also went and looked at a spare 67 dash and it has white needle. 67 - 68 Mustang tachs had red needles.

Thanks Royce. I checked my spare dashes here and they all are white.
