Hoping to put the rings on the new pistons tomorrow. I placed one of the compression rings in the cylinder and pushed it down a bit with the piston. Gap reading is .010. Is that sufficient? Also, I have two different types of compression rings from Hastings. The first type has the dot on one side and is a wider circle than the other. Instructions from the manufacturer are absolute shlt. Which one should be the top ring? Thanks, Eric.

The top ring will probably have a shinier face if they are chrome or plasma. It also may have a bevel on the top outer edge.

.010 is a bit tight. Set your top ring to .018 and the second ring to .014. They will seal up better and will keep from swelling up too tight when hot.
