Hi Everyone,

We're trying to help a club member with a 68 390 that needs front shocks but also has a bashed oil pan suspension and doesn't want new springs. I used to buy front shocks that had a coil spring mounted on them which usually cured the bottom out problem. I looked through my Fort Knox of receipts and see I got them from JC Whitney in the 80's. JC says no more! Monroe makes them for the back only.
Anyone know if they are still around and by who?

Thanks
Jim

Search for "Load Leveler" shocks and see what comes up.

I ran them on the front of my car in a much earlier past life.

I've just completed a Google search, and load-assist shocks are NOT available for the fronts.

New Moog #8232 front springs are only $74/pr. They're not all that hard to install. And at least you wouldn't be using a band-aid cure. Make sure if you replace the springs to get new upper insulators (and maybe new lowers as well since that bushing tends to get sloppy with age...)

Heavy-duty gas-charged front shocks Monroe 20767 at $10.14ea or KYB GasAjust KG4517 at $34.79ea. These are mail-order prices from RockAuto.com. Prices from other sites will likely be higher...
