I found these on the underside of the block

Anyone know what these mean?

D = Decade design intended for, 1970's
2 = Year of decade = 1972
A = Ford divsion bill to cost of engineering
E = Engine section of engineering
-CA = Change level of drawing

2 = 1972 year of casting
D = April month of casting
5 = 5th day of month

You have a 351 Cleveland block.

So if the numbers cast into my head are:
(between the 1st and 2nd cyl. from the left)
302
(between the 1st and 2nd cyl. from the right)
2v (on a little plate)
8E6

that means my heads were cast on May 6, 1968?
Are both heads on any particular engine typically the same date (I only have a picture of the casting from one bank)?

You are reading the day correctly. The dates quite often are not the same day. But should be close to the same day.

Or '78 or '88. You have to look at the...

...casting number as well to get the correct date.
