I put in a new bulb and suprise...the brake light is constantly on. Is the light just supposed to tell you the parking brake is on or does it indicate a problem in the brake system like modern lights. If so, what problems would trigger the light. The car has front disks. The rear wheel cylinders are leaky (going to replace em' this weekend). I do keep the master cylinder full though. Would this cause the light to come on? Or is it just a broken parking brake light.

Brake Warning Light

When the brake light warning is burning, the diverter valve has shifted, meaning there has been a loss in pressure in either the front or rear of the braking system.
When the diverter valve has shifted, (1) the dash light burns and (2) 1/2 your braking system has been blocked off.

The factory service manual describes the re-centering procedure of the diverter valve, involves opening a bleeder and depressing the brake pedal until the light goes out, then releasing the pedal, re-tightening the open bleeder.
