Thinking ahead here again, but how critical is it to have a power VS non-power brake proportioning valve? Does it matter between years? If you add power brakes to a non power brake car, what are the practical differences, as opposed to merely cosmetic/"correct look" ? How about after market "generic" prop valves? Or adjustable ones?

very important to have the correct master cylinder, distribution block and proportioning valve. Repro is fine but you have to understand the system to be able to replicate it with generic parts. Google these words and spend some time reading and you will be educated.

Pressure Differentiation Valve, Disc Brake Pressure Control Valve, Pressure Reduction Valve or Brake Limiter Valve

Hey Don (and please pardon the shameless hi-jack), what are the handcuff looking things next to the walking cat and 289 sticker? Just wondering...

So, what you are saying is that one from a mustang won't do? Or a Torino?

Torino should work fine on Cougar, direct fit 70-71, minor bracket / mounting changer Cougar vs. Torino 68-69.
