I know this will open a can of worms, but, can anyone tell me which aftermarket muffler will give my J code 302 with the "H" pipe and dual exhaust, the closest sound to its original. The mufflers that are on it now have a very hollow tinny sound. They were on it when I purchased the car. I don't want something loud and cackely but something with a nice rumble that still doesn't blow you out as you go down the highway.

to add another question, which ones would most closely match the size of the originals, length and width?

Well..... ask twenty guys and you'll likely get a bunch of different answers.

Personally, I like DynoMax Super Turbos. Very little restriction, and I nice deep rumble sound on my 393W. Stay away from Flowmasters since those are loud and tinny sounding.

Make sure your tailpipes go all the way to the rear valence panel (Mustang tailpipes are too short). A 20-30* turndown that is cut parallel to the ground helps a bunch, too!
