Is anyone running these 17 x 8 Scott Drake Torque Thrust M replica wheels with 5" back spacing? http://averagejoerestoration.com/shop/Scott-Drake-Mustang/1964-73-Mustang-Classic-Wheel-%28Anthracite--17-x-8-with-5%E2%80%9D-Backspace%29__S1MS-1007-1785.aspx

I'm curious how well the 5" back spacing fits on the front. This article from Mustangs Plus... http://www.mustangsplus.com/tech/backspacing/page2.html

...recommends at least a 4.75" back spacing on a 17 X 8 wheel to prevent the tire from rubbing the fender. The only 17 X 8 Torque Thrust style wheel available with a 4.75" back spacing is the Vintage 45 two piece wheel, but they run about $350 EACH!!! http://www.vintagewheelworks.com/products/wheels/v45/17x8
All the rest of the American Racing Torque Thrust style and single piece Vintage 45 wheels have a 4.50" back spacing.

According to the chart they will work on a stang anyways....seems to me a few guys had issues with 5" backspace on the cats though..? Good question and one that always comes up....you could buy one of those Percy wheel measuring tools and rent that thing out to help pay for it! ;>) I wonder if you could get a tire/rim shop to dry fit something up and then measure what profile tire you would need.....might be your best bet before pulling the trigger. See if TireRack has a shop they work with in your area....they may be willing to work with you
