I want to put new wheels and tires on my '68 XR7. I have drum brakes in the rear and discs up front. I was wondering if any of you guys know the correct rear spacing that can fit, because i dont want to order the wheels and find out that they don't fit. About a year ago I installed two stock mustang wheels in the front, and they prevented my car from moving forward because they were right up against the brakes. Does this have to do with the rear spacing?

No, you probably had a set of early wheels designed for drum brakes only. New aftermarket wheels are all designed for disk brakes.mm

Aftermarket wheels for disc braked car should not foul on front discs unless you have larger calipers

Recommended backspacing is 4" with 7" wide wheels and 4.5" with 8"wide wheels. Width and diameter depends on your horsepower requirements, type of work you want to do and how much money you have

7" wide is usually adequate for street use and mild motor and 15" diameter gives you access to better tyres

Go larger if you have more horespower and money
