Hey Cats,
If anyone is interested, I've come across a fairly straight and complete 69 xr7 up the way from where I work. I'm already nose deep in two other cars at the moment, but I thought it was a find worth mentioning.

What I know if it:
We gave it a cursory once over, there's a small ding in the center front of the hood - looks like a weak attempt at putting in a hood ornament. Otherwise, a shallow dent about 6x8" or less about 5" below driver side mirror.

The motor is complete, 351w but looks like Nixon was in office the last time it was started. I think it's got an fmx tranny, but can't be sure (?)

Interior looks to be all there, but a little rough. Could clean up well enough to be solid driver with some effort.

Other:
Missing drivers side window trim (between front and rear side glass)
Gas door is slightly crooked.
Minor cosmetic here and there but no major rust is readily apparent.
The car is gold with black interior, appears that the original colour was cream/off white?

Anyway, the fellow who owns the shop it's parked at is pretty decent once you get past his gruff old codger demeanor. It was a lein car, so it's quite possible it was abandoned some time ago. I've dealt with him before, and though he initally quoted me $1200 for it, I'm quite sure I can talk him down a fair bit. Email me if you're interested and I'd be glad to pass along any info I can. Would be a shame to let this one get sent to the scrap heap.

I've been looking for an old Cougar, (preferably a '68, but a "69 would do) to restore with my son who just turned 16. I bought a used 68 when I was 16 and still have it (with over 500,000 miles on it). I'm not a master mechanic or anything, so could you give me any more info on this car and what you think it needs to get it up and running? What city in California is it in?

Thanks.

Is gone.. hopefully to a good home

Just noticed on the way in here today that someone has carted off this one. Let's just hope if I see it again it hasn't fallen prey to gold plating, 13" wire wheels and purple super metallic paint.

Oh yeah, let's not forget the interior looking like the set of a bad '70's porn flick. As if there were any 'good' '70's porn flicks - not that I'd know.. umm..nevermind.
