Would you guys go with edelbrock aluminum heads or go with a good port and polish job on the stock heads? I have a 390 that will be driven on the street for the most part.
maybe take it to the strip once in a while.

you will not regret aluminum heads
even worked standard 390 heads will most likely suck
for big power
the "I should have" rule applies here
just my opinion

By the time you have the stocker heads reworked with new springs, retainers, guides, exhaust seats, surfacing, mild porting..... You'll be within a few $$$ of new aluminum heads that will perform 100% better than 390 heads.

Plus it will take 100 pounds or so off the front end.

Not to mention that with aluminum heads you can run close to a full point higher compression than iron, on the same fuel.

x3 on that. These days if your not looking for "original" looking, the money is way better spent on the aluminum for a ton of reasons. Plus they even look better!

I've heard that aluminum heads make more power.
