Have a question that I hope isn't too dumb. As per my sig I have 2 68's, one an S-code and one an X-code. Neither car has or has ever had AC but the alternator mounting is completely different between the 2.

The S-code has it mounted down low:

The X-code has it mounted up high:

Which mounting is correct, or are they both correct?

Thanks,
Colin

Interesting - i wonder if the motor on the down low one came out of a car that had A/C? Kinda looks like it. You sure they are original?

Your S code originally had a smog pump mounted on top.

Did they have smog in Washington State? My S code was DSO 54, Seattle Ordering District. X code is DSO A7, Pacific Canada Ordering District.
Not positive either is the original engine, but think so. I would think if someone swapped engines they would likely stay with original mounting brackets?

All 68 S codes received a smog pump.
