68 302 4V XR7. When AC is on and I speed up, The AC flow is diverted to the floor. When I slow down, the air flow goes back to the vents like it should. What causes this?

Just plain annoying!

It sounds like your check valve may be bad. You can test it by trying to blow through it. You should only be able to blow through it one way.

Do you mean the check valve that is part of the canisiter itself or is there another one somewhere in-line?

Yes, that is the one to which I am referring. You can pick up a cheap inline vacuum check valve at your local auto parts store for about $5 and see if that fixes your problem. Otherwise, a new reproduction vacuum canister with check valve will run you about $80.
