Anyone who knows if Ford started to use the 6 digit number from the VINnumber from 1970 on the Engine?

I have found the VIN at the back of the block on the drivers side. usualy somthing like 0F516333

Vin number

The only vin numbers I have found on the front, usually on the pass side has been on chevy's. Ford used partial vin numbers on the back of the block, or cyl head and trans.
