from what i have read in the shop manual, this valve only receives vacuum and shuts off water to the heater core when max a/c or fresh a/c is selected. in all other positions, the valve is open and water flows from the intake to the heater core.

since i took off my a/c i don't see a need for this valve. just wanted to check because i read on a different forum that the valve is still needed for heater temp control. i took that entire thing apart to replace the heater core and i'm pretty sure the temp control lever merely opens and closes a door that mixes ambient air with the air off the heater core.

do i still need the valve? thanks-

Correct Billy, valve is not needed for non-AC applications.

Ok, I have to ask. Why did you take the a/c off?
