My car goes in for paint next month, and I'm still pulling it apart. I just finished pulling the lower dash, and have a question on two of the components tucked under there.
I believe the first one is part of the speed control system, and is the junction where the short speedo cable from the instrument cluster connects on the top end, with a speedo cable from the junction going the rest of the way to the trans. What is the purpose of the speed control (emissions?) and can I bypass this connection and just install a single speedometer cable from the cluster to the trans.
Second question is the the small rectangular box with both wires and vacuum lines connected to it that is between the fuse panel and the emergency brake on the fire wall. Is this part of the speed control system, and can it also be bypassed.
