i have the original springs on my car that i bought in 1979. they don't quite hold the hood up all the way anymore. apparently the hood on the 70 is heavier than the hood on the 69 and so require some stouter springs than the 69. unfortunately, there appears to be lots of after market 69 springs, but none for the 70.

WCCC gets the 70 springs in periodically, but they are used and so there is no telling if they would be any better than what i have right now.

has anyone found some decent springs for the 70? working springs would be way cooler than a sawed off broomstick. thanks-

Replacement hood springs are an ongoing battle for us cougar owners. There are only a couple of aftermarket solutions, and those are both very expensive. Any chance there is a vintage bone yard nearby you can try and scavange from?
I bought a pair of "good" used hinges on ebay, waste of money.
These are too expensive for my blood though!

I haven't heard anything good about any of the "new" hinges either, they are made from thinner metal, and so are tight for a while, but fail shortly after you install them...
