We all know about the dreaded 67/68 cowl, but what do I need to do to check out the cowl of my 69? I have been told that it is not that hard to separate and have seen the bolt heads around the cowl. Do I need to take the window off or can I check it out easily? I just want to check mine out and rust-proof it if possible before anything bad happens.

This really wasn't too much of a problem with the 69 and 70 Cougars. The water drains to a large hole on either side of the car and leaves don't typically clog this area. What you do have to worry about is rusting your fenders where they bolt to the body near the door. This is where the water drains. With the 67 and 68s the water would stands hence the rust. Just my 2 cents.:)
