I bought one about 7 years ago. Just a 1969 standard convertible. Burnt orange metallic.

black top, black interior, 351w factory 4bbl car. Original top, interior and drivetrain.

I dont believe its in the registry unless the previous owner put it there. How do I contact Phil Parcells to give him the vin#?

Is there a positive or a negative to giving my vin# out is this just for info and record keeping purposes?

thank you

You can contact Phil Parcell at [email protected] and submit the VIN and he can tell you if it's in the database. John

It is just for documenting for all Cougar people another of our beloved cat's status. I'd say it is a negative to not do it, a positive to do it! It's for the good of our hobby.

I can't think of any downside to having a car in the registry, and its potentially a very good thing.
The Shelby club was one of the pioneers in this area, and its turned out that an established and detailed registry history is a real asset that can increase a car's bottom line price. Its also proven useful in theft recoveries and resolving fraudulent sales disputes. As the Cougar registry grows over time and Cougars become more valuable, we can anticipate similar benefits.
Its already helping people reunite with their "long lost" cars, and can sometimes help owners fill in missing information, based on known data for cars produced before and after.
I'm looking forward to the day when there's enough data to justify publishing a book of registry information, as some other makes have done. If you have cars to add to the database, it'll help.

Saw the Pierce NE story on the internet over the weekend...all those Chevy cars and trucks hidden away for years. Can't believe it...which begs a question (hoping you'll chime in on this one...); Are there any '68-71' Cougar VIN's completely unaccounted for? Just a thought...

There are far more unknown numbers than known numbers in the CCOA database. We will never get them all, or probably anywhere close as many of the cars were destroyed long before the registry came into existance. And there are some owners out there that just do not want any information about their car(s) listed on any type of database.

Best ask Phil. He has the database. Some of it says whether a car was scrapped or crushed. I don't know how you can expect to get more than an estimate on this figure. I have had a total of twelve 1969 convertibles; 11 were XR7's (two 428CJ Ram-Airs, one non-Ram-Air, eight were 2V or 4V 351 cars) and one was a non-XR7 (a STD 428 CJ Ram-Air). Three of the eight 351's were parts cars, all now scrapped.
Have any rear quarter panel for 69 convertible XR7’ by chance
