I have a story. I am a 100% disabled vet and always wanted a 69 cougar since I first seen them. I was 14 and of course came up with a family that was in need (poor)to ever save the money and buy one. I joined the service when I just turned 18 and of course getting that car was the furthest from my mind. Vietnam and such. I spent 20 years in the Air Force and retired. Then hired on as a federal employee teaching electronics. Had a heart attack while teaching and had surgery. Died on the operation table for 3 minutes while they tried to revive me. I was the walking dead for about a year. I had bought my dream car just before that happened. Didn't know the Government would not help me out during this bad time and almost lost my house and everything, of course was very very broke. The wife almost talked me into selling the car but I didn't. When I was well enough again and started to get it back into shape for cruising the coast I left it out of the Garage under neath a big tree. I dint think anything would happen to it. But the next day a freak weather storm broke out , lighting hit the tree and crushed the car. Note I had no insurance because I didn't drive it around and it stayed in the garage. I had to suffer and try and figure out how I can get it back in shape. With money still being tight and the wife on my back to get ride of it, well I didn't. Still fixing what I can but still need parts. Well that's where I am today Its still not cruising. Every tells me I was never meant to have that car, but I am hard headed and am not selling it and they will when I die. This is the short version of my story and if I wrote the whole thing it would be a book. Don't know if this is what you meant about a good story but this all I have. Nick

My story:
I'm 24-7 caregiver for my brother who's got advanced dementia. I don't get much time to hunt for parts or work on my '69 ragtop but I do the best I can. I've been looking after my brother for over 3 years, ever since his girlfriend flaked out and handed him off to me. I've had my Cougar for 30 years. I picked it out for my dad in '88 but it wasn't his thing so he sold it to me. It's always been a driver and I'm currently freshening up the interior.
My Cougar needs door cards, particularly the drivers side. My interior is white with the deluxe interior (standard on convertibles I'm told). If you have good door cards in another color I can dye them. Email me if you have something I can use, please. pweaver AT ucsd dot edu
