11.27 is great for a Cougar. No one came close to that back in the mid 1980s when NCCC went to Baylands Drag Strip and Sears Point. My best ever was 15.20 in a H code 70.

Look again, it is 11.027 No telling what 'small block Ford' is under the hood. 302 stroked to 347 or a 351W stroked to 393/408/418/427 or even 454(with Dart block)... Even my 4000-pound '89 Crown Vic is knocking on the 12s with a mild 393W and 'only' a 2500 converter and 3.55 rear gears - definitely not optimized for 1/4-mile flogging! Figure 460hp (385 to the ground) and 470 lb/ft torque to move the 4200 pounds (w/driver) to a 13-flat @ 106.55! Put even that engine into a car that weighs a thousand pounds less and it'd be in the 11s, easy!

No matter how you look at it, the Roush Mustang is probably still street-and emission-legal, whereas the Cougar is an all-out race car. Oh, and the Cougar probably weighs less than the Mustang, too!

That 67 hooked up hard.. That looked so awesome. That video screams the reason I want 4:11s in my 67. Damn fun.
