:1zhelp: 67 LOWER DOOR HINGE ??

I HAVE A NEW HINGE PIN AND BUSHING KIT BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A WAY TO STABLE IT IN MY PRESS TO PUSH OUT THE OLD HINGE PIN.. IS THERE SOME SORT OF TOOL OR A SPECIAL JIG THE MUST BE USED? I SURE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SIMPLER THAN THIS. ALL HELP APPRECIATED..!

all i did was leave the hinge on the car, grind off the end , and punch it out with a hammer and a screwdriver. took about 5 minutes to do, but i had to remove the doors. it sounds like you did that anyway.

How did you get it off? Remove the door, too? I have to change my drivers' side soon and I have put it off for a couple of years just looking at the access. I pulled one from the wrecker by removing the front fender, but don't want to do that to my kitty. Good luck with the pin.

easy way to do it is to remove the bolts that hold the hinge to the door. take the door off and you have access to the entire hinge. i have pics somewhere of my car with both doors off, but i have to develop them first. might be a while LOL. but well see. ill post them anyway

YES, I THINK THAT MIGHT JUST WORK. I'LL TRY IT TODAY AS I HAVE TO DO SOME OTHER WORK ON THE CARS ANYWAY. WORKING ON TWO DIFF. CAT PROJECTS AT THE SAME TIME.. NOT RECOMMENDED. HARD ON THE WALLET AND TIME SCHED...:(

MY 67 IS STRIPPED AND IN PRIMER AND JUST NOW SOME PARTS ARE GOING BACK ON.. THE 67 IS THE VINTAGE TRANS AM RACER..

:D THE OTHER PROJECT IS MY SPORTS SPECIAL DRIVER..\

IT WENT FINE. MANY THANKS!!!

I DID THE DOOR HINGE AS YOU PRESCRIBED. WENT JUST FINE AND MY HINGE IS AS GOOD AS NEW NOW.. MY THANKS TO ALL .

You are my Hero!

I'm in the process of Resto-modding my '67. I am currently in the process of buying parts to build my little 289 "Rat" motor. I'm not a real big fan of Big Block, I like 'em and all, but I'd much rather see a little 289 or 302 ratted out screamin'. Could you tell me a little about the build process for your motor? I'm assuming that you have the dual four setup since you have the Trans Am Racer, could you give me some insight on what parts you used for the build? What do you think you are pushin' in respect to horsepower and torque?

67 CATATONIC TRANS AM VINTAGE RACER

289 ENGINE BASIC PLAN

THERE ARE TWO VERSIONS OF THE 289 FOR TRANS AM.
TWO 4'S AND A SINGLE 4. BUD MOORE USED THE TWO FOURS AND SOME INDEPENDENTS USED A SINGLE 4 BBL. SETUP. I AND USING THE SINGLE 4 SET UP AS I WILL SAVE APROX. 12 POUNDS AND ABOUT $400. MUCH EASIER TO TUNE AND DELIVERS ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME HORSE POWER. MY ENGINE WILL BE A VINTAGE HOLMAN AND MOODY POWER PLANT.
