I have a 2002 cougar xr with approx 80K miles. When I go over a bump there is a clunking noise from right rear of vehicle. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is the cause?

My guess would be a bad rear strut .

Might be a bad anti-roll bar link or a bad control link bushing.

Perhaps lay under the car and have a friend "bounce" the rear of the car up and down and see if you can pinpoint it?? They just don't make them like they used to!
