This is just a general question. I am trying to change my oxygen sensors out and the first one I tried will not thread in for anything. I checked the threads and they look fine. Any suggestions? I live in a small town and good mechanic is hard to find.

Id guess maybe different type of thread? as in the sensor is fine thread but the hole for the sensor is coarse thread. The thread on the tip of the hole could also be flattened, I had that issue on a sensor on my truck.

Thanks for getting back with me. I thought about that and took both the old sensor and the new one to check the pitch or if it looked like I had damaged threads, but every thing looked good. The poor car has been sitting since I I tried to get it put on. Oxygen sensors have a reputation of being a PINA. One day when I have nothing to do, I'll try again. It's too bad, I only have about 25k on that engine.
