I have a 1973 Cougar ragtop I have in my garage and need my garage back. basically all that is left is the chassis (rusty and previously bondo-ed), 351w engine that I drove home and compression tested and all cylinders tested at 118 to 120 psi., and the automatic tranny.

I have removed all the other parts and hope to be able to sell them.

I will sell the car for what they will give me at the scrap yard (not much).
I will sell the car and all the parts for what I have in the car ($1900.00).

I live in Luck, WI and snow will be here soon and the wife is tired of parking outside.

I am new to this site and will try to check it daily, but no promises.

Are you sure it is a 351W? If so, it is a replacement engine since all 351-powered 71-73s were Clevelands from the factory. Easy way to check - six valvecover bolts is a 302/351W, eight valvecover bolts is a Cleveland family.

Transmission - if the trans has a separate bellhousing (bolts on), it is likely a FMX. If it is one-piece, it is a C-6.

Rear axle - It will be a 9", so don't throw it away! Give us the door tag code and we can tell you what the ratio is, or you can read it off the metal tag held by one of the center section nuts. Code and tag will also indicate a traction-lock rear if so equipped.

Valve cover has 6 bolts
Steering column intact with 2 small cracks where these things crack
wiring harness intact
rear quarters panels intact (probably repaired previously)
engine has new oil pump
new timing chain
windshield cracked while we were tryimg to remove
drivers froor pan salvagable where seat bolts to it

3 = 1973
F = Dearborn
92 = standard convert
H = 351C-2V
523659 = sequential number

Door tag info:
76D = Cougar Standard convert
2B = Bright red
CW = White Decore knitted seats/door panels, black dash/carpet/console
Trans X = FMX
Axle 2 = 2.75 open
DSO 46 = Twin Cities

That 2B/CW is one of 129 made with that combo, and only 15 standard '73 converts were delivered to the Twin Cities District Sales Office.
