Hi everyone,
The time has come for me to sell my 1970 XR-7 convertible. The car is a factory H-Code, 351W 2bbl (now has Holley 4bbl and Edlebrock Performer manifold). It is Medium Blue exterior with White Interior (in excellent shape with no rips or tears). The car is a factory AC car with all the parts there, just not charged I think. It has a smooth shifting FMX transmission. This car runs fabulous, but has a slight bog in it if you stomp on it. I think I have too much carb for it (it has a brand new Holley 700 Dominator on it) I was going to put a 390 in it, so I didn’t want to have to buy another carb (too cheap). I bought this car from Gasboddle (Gary) in October 2008. This car has been a California car it’s whole life up to that point. This means there is only one very small rust spot in the trunk floor. The rest of this car is rust free. I mean NO rust in the floors, torque boxes or any exterior sheet metal. The car came with receipts dating back to 1972. The car has 252,000 miles on it and the motor was rebuilt at 150,000. The car needed very little work when I bought it, but I have done/ replaced the following:
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>
1. New white convertible top with glass back window (has not seen rain)<o:p></o:p>
2. Pulled motor and detailed engine bay and motor.<o:p></o:p>
3. Replaced all belts and hoses with concourse correct ones.<o:p></o:p>
4. Purchased AM/ 8-track radio (not installed)<o:p></o:p>
5. Replaced front shocks with KYB GAS-ADJUST (White Ones)<o:p></o:p>
6. Started detailing underneath car<o:p></o:p>
7. Put four newer BF Goodrich radial TA’s on the car which are mounted on factory style steel wheels.
Under the hood I have replaced the Starter solenoid, Battery, Battery cables, Transmission Lines, Spark Plugs, Plug Wires, Distributor Cap, Points, rotor and condenser.
This car still needs a little bit of work, but nothing major. The rim-blow isn’t working, the radio needs going thru and re-installed and the inside door pull straps need replacing (I bought another pair and was going to have them re-upholstered). The windshield washer bucket needs to be re-installed. I did just notice the exhaust donuts are leaking and will need to be replaced.
The paint on the car is in good shape and has some chips here and there. It has been repainted in the past as the paint has more metal flake than factory. The chrome on the car is in good shape, but not show winning. The front bumper has a couple of spots where the chrome has flaked off.
Since I’ve had the car, I have only put less than 300 miles on it. It is time that it moves on to a new owner who will have the time to enjoy it.
I am asking $15,000.00 for this very nice convertible. Car is located in Fairfax, Virginia. I will be taking more pictures this weekend and posting them as soon as I can. I do have the Marti report which shows this car as 1 of 67 with this paint/trim code.
There are several pics in my Bio.<o:p></o:p>
