Not sure where to start with this amazing find!!!
1970 Cougar Eliminator
This car was bought from the original owner who purchased it here in Calgary after having a bad experience with a 69 Cougar. He worked with the dealer and traded up to the 70 Eliminator he saw in the dealer showroom, this is that car. Have EVERYTHING and much more. Original warranty plates, build sheets, key codes, manuals etc. along with all the work orders from the dealer in the early years and many work orders from various shops throughout the years.
When I acquired the car someone had just started taking it apart with the intention of a full restore. The interior was stripped, exhaust, doors etc. removed. The driveline was still intact. I had intentions of restoring so I stored the car and parts for the past 5 years in my heated shop. I acquired additional documentation during this time, The Marti Report, the framed Marti set that has a copy of the original invoice. Data tag, Marti report and an overview of the car. This configuration can be broken down to a 1 of 1 car. I also purchased a replacement Data Tag for the restoration. I don’t think there is another 1970 Eliminator out there for restoration with this much documentation. This is the REAL DEAL!
The car has had some custom touches over the years that need to be reversed, had a side pipe exhaust (that has been removed), an aftermarket sunroof was put in the car and the valve covers have been replaced along with the radio. (I do have the original radio and bezel – shown in pictures)
This car needs a full restore and has all the usual problems. Quarters are rusted through and the doors have the usually rust problems, but all in all the car has been stored indoors most of its life and is really solid for its age.
I did a quick reassembly for the sale and pictures, all I could find missing was the passenger door mirror (the drivers is in the trunk picture but the mirror lens is broken) Also missing one of the original hub caps, valve covers and radio antenna. The carpet and headliner were removed before I got the car. It appears that everything else is there.
I am selling this car as I had to choose between two restorations. (Don’t have the time or money to do them both) So I will be restoring the fully documented 1969 RML PURPLE Cougar originally found and restored by Ray Harwood. Being a Calgarian this car has special meaning to me and deserves a full revival.
Opportunities like this do not come up that often and I am being very reasonable in the price. I want this car to go to someone that knows the value of this car and has the time and money to do a proper restoration. The asking price of $8,000 is non-negotiable so please don’t call and waste your time and mine with low ball offers.
