I am looking to install the USA-230 in my 1969 Eliminator. It appears the rear speakers are 4x10, however I am not sure what size the front dash speaker is. It appears to be 4X6. Could someone please confirm the sizes? Also any opinions of the USA-230 radio. Currently installed is the original AM radio which does not work any more.

69/70 dash speakers are 5" x 7": http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=DS12+01

I put one of these in my car: http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/ms67-73plate.html With a pair of Pioneer TS-A878 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009QOTA/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00, sounds pretty darn good for dash speakers. Actually I did the same thing for the dash as what follows for the doors:

I put Kenwood speakers in the doors. First I had bought these: http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=98808+01 but found found the speakers were just "eh", so I retrofitted Kenwood's: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00020C5QA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00.

Or, you can buy both of what I ended up with already configured this way for more than I paid for both sets and replacement speakers that were more to my liking!

Nice options!! I have the same setup as these guys with the AM radio...but mine still works. And I would think they don't have door speakers like I don't either. I hate to cut up door panels that are virgins but I might to get a little beter sound once I buy a new stereo.

Thanks for the replys. I agree the fronts are 5X 7. In addition to what you put in I am also considering installing a 5X7 with the dual voice coil. My doors have no holes so I plan on putting 4X 10's in the rear package tray. Any recommendations on what works best for the rear speakers? I agree that I like hearing the motor but every once in awhile I would like to listen to the radio. I have a $150 gift card for Amazon so I hope to buy some of my stuff from there.

It's early for Jenny and I to start thinking of the sound system, but I am leaning towards your thoughts as well. Our Eliminator is just an AM car ... so I will keep that in the dash and install the 4X10s in the rear and the best 5X7 I can get in the dash. Once the car is running ... I may revisit the sound system, amps and speakers.

Correct me if I am wrong but the doors have a really narrow space due to the windows, I dont know if these would fit.

After doing some more looking I plan on going with the Kenwood KFC415C 4X10's in the back and Infinity 329CF 3.5" in the front. I will by one of the adapter plates from WCCC for mounting the fronts. In terms of the doors, I agree that there is not a lot of space due to the glass, but either way I don't plan on cutting holes in my door cards. I still plan on getting the USA-230 stereo dash unit.
