hi all! im puttin a 68 xr7 back on the road and i'd like to change the guages. looks like they mesure 4 1/4" across the front [speedo & tach], but i dont see that size available from autometer. what is the actual replacement size for these guages? Also i would like to install a ratchet shifter and keep my factory console. is this possible? and if so who makes the shifter? thanks all

you need to put the 3 3/8 gauges into a panel

Search the site for "gauge" and you will find it has been addressed a couple of times. Also search for the thread on SeanD's restomod

Also visit the Mustang restomod sites like Mustangs Plus and see how it is done for a 67 / 68 Mustang. Haneline, Dakota Digital and Classic Instruments also have Mustang panels that will work

There isn't a ratchet shifter that will fit into the console without cutting the console pad and making a filler.
