Hi all

Im new here and just bought my 1968 Cougar (Automatic) last week so this weekend im finally going to start doing some work on the car. The first issue I have is that the car only starts in Neutral gear so Im pretty sure that its the Neutral Safety switch that might have gone bad so guys where exactly is the NSS located at?

And If you have any tips I would really appreciated if you would let me know about them :)

Thanks

If you look under the hood there is a wire bundle just to the right of center coming out of the firewall going down to the transmission. The neutral safety / backup lamp switch is on the transmission behind the shift linkage arm at the other end of that wire bundle. New switches are available for about $100.
