Lost my clutch last week and when I tried to find one, no one had anything but a 10"....It looked original and local clutch shop had to rebuild my clutch disc....Is 10 1/2" common for Cougars and is there a supplier in case I need another down the road ??

Also wondered about the lead substitudes.....Do they work and are they necessary ??
Thx RW

SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY, 10 1/2 are not easy to find but I bought a Zoom from Summit Racing and it comes complete with everything and not to pricey, I use lead in all my cars that don't have harden valve seats.

The lead isn't really necessary..It can help, but over time, I don't think it is worth it. If you have never replaced your timing gear set, it would be a good time to go over the whole top end. Get the guides replaced, and hardened valve seats installed. Looks more expensive up front, but over time is cheaper. Especially changing out the timing gear set. If it slips, and valves smack pistons, it is a more expensive repair.
